The minivan evokes a certain feeling. Just say the word, "minivan," and you're probably already picturing screaming toddlers, busy parents, and a dog.

There's a reason vans have a strong family association. They're practical and full of utility when you've got a lot of people who need driving around, and a lot of stuff to take with you.

One feeling they never really evoke is excitement.

Chrysler put designer Ralph Gilles on the job of reinvigorating this slouchy segment.

Gilles, who masterminded the Jeep Cherokee's futuristic styling, was given full creative control.

"We were gifted in being able to design a platform from scratch," Giles explained. "We were able to put the wheels where we wanted to, and that's rare in my life. Being a designer for twenty-some years, only a handful of times have I been able to design a platform from scratch and architect it."

So, did he succeed in making the minivan sexy?

That's for you to decide.
